“How much does it cost?” is every executive’s first question, and most providers answer “it depends”. True, but not an answer. Here are the real ranges we practise and observe in Morocco, and above all what they contain.
The model: a monthly fee per device
Modern managed services are billed as a monthly fee per workstation and per server, not by the hour. The provider commits to results: monitoring, maintenance, support and baseline security are included, whatever the number of incidents.
Ranges observed in Morocco
| Scope | Monthly range excl. VAT |
|---|---|
| Monitored and supported workstation | MAD 150 to 300 |
| Physical or virtual server | MAD 800 to 1,500 |
| Administered Microsoft 365 user (licence excluded) | MAD 60 to 120 |
| Operated firewall (hardware excluded) | MAD 500 to 1,200 |
| 24/7 on-call on a critical scope | flat MAD 1,500 to 4,000 |
For an SMB with 30 workstations, two servers and a firewall, a complete contract usually lands between MAD 8,000 and 15,000 excl. VAT per month. That is less than one fully loaded IT salary, with a whole team and 24/7 coverage.
What must be included
- 24/7 monitoring with alerts handled, not just sent.
- Unlimited helpdesk for users, by phone and email.
- Scheduled updates and security patches.
- Antivirus or EDR on every endpoint.
- Monthly report and quarterly review.
- IT documentation, owned by the client.
What is usually extra
Vendor licences (Microsoft 365, Veeam, Fortinet), hardware, evolution projects (migration, new site) and on-site work outside the contract.
How to compare two quotes
- Bring everything back to the all-inclusive monthly cost per endpoint.
- Check the written response time for a blocking incident.
- Ask what happens at night and on weekends.
- Demand reversibility: documentation and access handed over at the end of the contract.
- Beware of very low fees that exclude incidents, then billed hourly.
